Looking for something fun to do!? Why not kickball?

1 Aug

Looking for a fun game that anyone can step out and play? Why not go and play some kickball, most everyone has played and remembered it from elementary school. All you need is a ball and bases. I recommend playing on an all grass field, but you can play on softball or baseball diamonds but expect more scrapes and bruises from falling over grass, because chances are you will fall. 🙂

Many ways to play, usually 11 players in the field and at least 4 girls, have to go co-ed and get everyone involved! It’s fun for all ages, kids too, and it is not overly physically demanding for people just starting to go out and get some physical activities, but can turn to demanding physically if you are running around the outfield trying to catch the ball! You likely have a league set up somewhere close to your area, if you are looking for the official league check out waka kickball. Or you might have pickup games in your area. If you happen to be around the Sonoma, California area they have a league Friday & a pickup game every other Thursday in the area(if you are interested and looking for more details let me know). And lastly this is pretty much your timeline of kickball in pictures. And remember have fun! It’s just a game, most of the fun is meeting new people and maybe heading to catch some dinner or drinks in a group with new friends!

Billy Beane has balls like you hear about. A’s trade Cespedes to Red Sox for Lester

31 Jul

I’m still half asleep, get notifications on my phone that Billy Beane is pushing his chips all in this year for the Championship. Trading All-Star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Boston Red Sox for ace left handed pitcher Jon Lester & outfielder Johnny Gomes(of Petaluma welcome home Gomes!). Risky move but I like it. Cespedes was a free agent they signed and he seems to be more flash over actual production. That and in A’s terms he made a gazillion dollars. The big rumors is that Lester plans all along to go back to the Red Sox after this year so it’s likely an expensive 2 month rental. If they don’t win the championship it will be viewed as a failure.

Obviously Jason Hamel or Jesse Chavez doesn’t get the job done as a starter come playoff time the way they have been pitching so a move had to be done. A’s have some pure ace pitchers. Lastly Cespedes can hit free agency after the 2015 season so knowing that he likely would have bolted Oakland they just sped up the process.

Things are getting interesting out west.

UPDATE #1: Word has surfaced that Boston will also receive a competitive balance pick from Oakland, while Oakland will receive cash.

UPDATE #2: Someone sure knows how to be a GM from fantasy baseball(me). Oakland traded pitcher in Triple A Tommy Milone to Minnesota for OF Sam Fuld who was with Oakland earlier this year. Yes we released him, yes it seems weird, but we needed OF depth and not another starting pitcher. Even though Milone’s deal is nice. We probably could have waited for more today.

Breaking news! No 49ers got injured today & Red Zone Rally pre-games looks amazing

Ticketmaster

Well the 49ers got through a practice without breaking one of the teams RBs so that is a win. But the big news is what you can do at the stadium before 49ers home games this season.

Open 3 hours before kickoff, the Red Zone Rally is the spot for your all-inclusive pregame fun. Join 49ers cheerleaders and alumni, catch all the early NFL action in HD, and enjoy an awesome all-you-can-eat food and drink menu. $85 per ticket.

Well I don’t know about you but this sounds like a great thing to try at least once if you are attending a home game. I’ve seen a list of all the different food and drink items(beer and wine are on the all you can drink menu). Food stations range from breakfast to desert, lunch, tuscany, salad and everything in between. Get there early and eat and drink to oblivion, except the 49ers are actually worth watching so you don’t want to be to bombed.

But Ticketmaster doesn’t tell you that these events also has a roller coaster you can ride as much as you want during the 3 hours. As it is right next to Great America I don’t find that shocking. Eat some food, drink some beer, throw up all that shit on the roller coaster, and go back and eat and drink some more. Sounds like a good fucking day and you get to see a 49ers game after that too? Where do I sign up? All I have to say is if you are the poor sack who has to be a designated driver(and please get one) your buddies HAVE to pay for your tickets to the game and the red zone rally or you need new friends. Nothing sounds worse then paying top dollar to watch your friends get shit faced drunk and watch the game as you want to throat punch all your drunk friends because you’re not on their level. On top of that expected to drive them all home! On second thought also make sure you drive one of their cars, you don’t want that puke on your seats.

In other news if the 49ers can continue to have injury free practices the team will be pretty solid this year, don’t let Gore play any preseason games, wrap that man in bubble wrap!

Commitment to run away?

Oakland

Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis and two top lieutenants met recently with several San Antonio officials to discuss the potential of moving his NFL team from the Bay Area to the Alamo City, local leaders involved in the talks confirmed Tuesday.

On the weekend of July 18, Davis met with the officials, including Henry Cisneros, then-Mayor Julián Castro, City Manager Sheryl Sculley, Mario Hernandez of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, and both Richard Perez and David McGee, the president and chairman of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, respectively.

Well well well, look at this! Oakland A’s sign a lease to stay in the O.Co coliseum and the Raiders are trying to play hard ball and escape to San Antonio. I can’t say it would be a bad move, they would have to stay in a temporary place until they can get a brand new one built. At this rate it seems that would be an easier bet to happen elsewhere than in Oakland. All I know is big losers would be the Raiders fans, very loyal bunch, no way they take to the 49ers. Bay area sports is like that, you only like one football team, one baseball team. Interesting to see how this plays out, I think it gets the bay area working to find the Raiders a new stadium. Oakland can’t see themselves lose the Warriors & Raiders in a 5 year span. I see Oakland fighting for this one.

Is this the face all Giants fans are making?

Cain to visit Dr. Andrews

Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain is headed to see the esteemed Dr. James Andrews regarding his elbow inflammation, per multiple Bay Area reports (Andrew Baggarly being one of them).

Cain’s in the fifth year of an eight-year, $139.75 million deal that also includes a club option for 2018.

Bad news for the Giants, 5 game losing streak, just got owned by your biggest rival the Dodgers at home in a 3 game set to a total of 17-4, and now to top it off you hear your ace is going to see the Dr. of death. Dr. Andrews is the best of the best, he is who you want your player to go to get better, in the OFF SEASON, hearing your ace even has to visit him during the season just screams bad news for your ball club.

On the flip side the injury has obviously hurt Cain, he has flat out stunk this year for the team to the tune of 2-7. That pitching acquisition of Jake Peavy makes more sense now than it did before. Hard to imagine Peavy is as horrible as he was with the Sox the rest of the way. The countdown to the trade deadline continues and I expect the Giants to try to be buyers again.Â
